Experience

01
Bike tours
Visit the butterfly garden in the Sachsenwald forest, take the Elbe cycle path to Lauenburg, or through the Vier- and Marschlande to Hamburg. From Backbord Geesthacht, there are plenty of opportunities to explore the surrounding area.
02
Fun on the water
Herons, wild geese, and small boats. The water sports area in front of the barrage is begging to be explored. It's a good thing that the Elbe has hardly any current here.

03
Leisure Pool
In the morning, you can swim 50-meter laps in the leisure pool, practice a crampon dive from the 1-, 3-, or 5-meter diving board (please, no belly flops :), or whizz into the water on the freefall and wide-wave slides. Neck and massage showers provide relaxation. The pool is located diagonally across from the hotel at Elbuferstraße 1. The season starts in May and ends in mid-September.
04
Steam train trip
The "Karoline" leisurely trots through the idyllic landscape of the Vier- und Marschlande on seven weekends a year. Excursions depart from the historic train station in Geesthacht, which is within walking distance of the hotel. The perfect combination: travel by steam locomotive to Bergedorf and return by bike, as bicycles are allowed. You can find the excursion dates here:

05
Boat trips
Elbe beavers, sea eagles, otters, technical masterpieces, or urban harbor spectacles. Boat tours with the Aurora take you to the Elbaue Biosphere Reserve, the Scharnebeck Ship Lift, or Hamburg's Port Anniversary. The starting point is the Werftstraße/Menzer-Werft-Platz pier opposite the hotel. You can find the excursion dates here:
06
Music at the harbor
At Backbord Geesthacht, you'll be treated to a treat when iconic pop, rock, and soul bands perform at sunset on the open-air stage by the harbor. Around six concerts take place annually from May to September. Admission is free. Those looking for a more relaxed atmosphere can enjoy the event with a sundowner from the summer garden in the hotel's West End . You can find dates for music at the harbor and many other interesting events in Geesthacht here:

07
Beach volleyball
Fancy a beach volleyball match? Kick it off on one of the two beach volleyball courts on the Menzer-Werft-Platz peninsula, within sight of the hotel. The loser buys a well-deserved round of drinks afterwards.
08
Table tennis
You can battle it out in table tennis at the Menzer Werft square, right next to the beach volleyball courts.

09
Mini golf
Over the boards, over obstacles, or straight into the hole – mini golf isn't that easy, but it's a lot of fun for all generations. It all starts at the Menzer Werft course, directly across the street from the hotel.
10
High ropes course
Starting two kilometers upstream from Backbord Geesthacht, it's all about hooking in, shimmying, and abseiling. Nestled in a beautiful dune landscape, the Geesthacht high ropes course at Elbuferstraße 48-52 offers climbing fun for all ages on five courses from April to October.
